Enterprise Virtualization
with Proxmox VE
ModernOps is an authorized Proxmox reseller partner. We migrate you off proprietary licensing, engineer Proxmox VE so it is bulletproof, back your team 24/7, or run the entire platform for you as a service. You keep the license savings. We carry the pager.
Our role as
your Proxmox partner.
As an authorized Proxmox reseller partner, ModernOps sells official Proxmox subscriptions, provides first-line technical support, and escalates directly to the engineers who write the software. Our team designs, migrates, and operates Proxmox VE clusters every day: hyper-converged Ceph builds, stretched metro clusters, and everything in between. One partner from first quote to 2 a.m. incident.
Proxmox VE is fully open source (AGPLv3): zero license fees, every enterprise feature included. Budget flows to hardware, projects, and people, rather than renewals.
No per-core arithmetic, no audit anxiety, no surprise multiple at true-up. Subscriptions are per CPU socket, priced in the open.
Open standards, a transparent code base, and no vendor lock-in, which also means real negotiating power on everything you buy next.
Proven import tooling from VMware environments, migrations in waves, rollback plans at every step, with our engineers on the bridge.
Proxmox VE services
from ModernOps.
Evaluating, migrating, building, or done babysitting infrastructure: pick your lane. Every lane starts with the same 30-minute technical consult.
We move estates onto Proxmox VE in waves: assessment and dependency mapping, a pilot that proves TCO and performance on your workloads, then scheduled cutovers with validation checklists and a rollback plan at every step. You get out of per-core licensing without betting your uptime, and the team that migrates you stays on your account afterward.
Plan my migration →Proxmox VE is easy to install and easy to install wrong. We engineer it like production depends on it: quorum and fencing designed correctly, Ceph or ZFS storage architecture, stretched metro clusters for site-level resilience, isolated cluster networking, and backup restores proven before go-live. Built once, correctly, instead of rebuilt in month six. Already running Proxmox VE? We will audit and harden what you have.
Book a deployment review →Production on Proxmox VE, run end-to-end by ModernOps: monitoring, patching, capacity, incident response, backup, and recovery, delivered as a service at open-source economics. Add DR as a Service (replicated to a second site, restore-tested on a schedule, documented) so an outage is a bad afternoon instead of a bad quarter. Your engineers ship projects; ours carry the pager.
Price a fully managed environment →Run it yourself, with a safety net that answers at 2 a.m. Around-the-clock first- and second-line support from ModernOps engineers, backed by official Proxmox subscriptions, so every ticket has a path from your first call to the developers themselves. One number. One accountable partner. No vendor ping-pong.

Proxmox
Datacenter Manager.
Proxmox Datacenter Manager is a centralized, open-source management layer for distributed Proxmox infrastructures. It provides a single control plane for multiple Proxmox Virtual Environment and Proxmox Backup Server remotes across clusters, sites, and data centers, giving IT teams a complete overview of large-scale environments.
Basic, Standard, and Premium subscriptions include the Proxmox Datacenter Manager enterprise repository and support, and ModernOps designs multi-site estates around it.
Proxmox
Backup Server.
Proxmox Backup Server is an open-source, enterprise backup solution for backing up and restoring virtual machines, containers, and physical hosts. Incremental, deduplicated backups with authenticated encryption; restore full virtual machines, archives, or single objects in a flash; synchronize copies to remote sites, with ransomware protection built into the design.

Why it anchors our DR service
Proxmox Backup Server is the backbone of our DR as a Service: your recovery point lives offsite, verified, and restore-tested on a schedule, rather than discovered broken on the worst day of the year.
Official Proxmox
subscription tiers.
Every Proxmox VE feature is already in the platform. A subscription adds what production demands: the stable Enterprise Repository and technical support from the people who write the software. Pricing is per CPU socket, per year, and all nodes in a cluster carry the same level. Buy subscriptions standalone through ModernOps at partner pricing, or inside a support package where the included level is spelled out, never guessed.
| Tier | Support tickets | Response time | Included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | 3 support tickets/year via Customer Portal | Within 1 business day | Enterprise Repository; Datacenter Manager repository and support |
| Standard (most popular) | 10 support tickets/year via Customer Portal | 4 hours within a business day | Plus remote support (SSH and HTTPS); offline subscription key activation |
| Premium | Unlimited support tickets via Customer Portal | 2 hours within a business day | Plus remote support (SSH and HTTPS); offline subscription key activation |
Per CPU socket, per year. Ask for current pricing and we will quote within one business day. A free Community tier exists for labs and evaluation; we will tell you when it is genuinely the right call.

Frequently asked
questions.
01 /Is open-source virtualization reliable enough for enterprise production?
Yes, and it is not a bet. Proxmox VE is developed commercially by Proxmox Server Solutions, established 2005, with enterprise subscriptions, SLA-backed response times, and a stable Enterprise Repository of thoroughly tested updates. Over 2 million active hosts run it worldwide. What open source removes is the license bill and the lock-in, not the accountability: that is what subscriptions and ModernOps are for.
02 /What does a subscription actually buy if the software is free?
Two things production needs: the Enterprise Repository, the stable, tested update channel with security fixes as they arise, and technical support from the Proxmox developers, with defined response times. Features are never paywalled. And if you ever let a subscription lapse, your servers keep running; nothing shuts off.
03 /How risky is leaving VMware, really?
Managed correctly, it is a sequence of small, reversible steps rather than a leap. Proxmox VE imports VMware virtual machines directly, and our runbook wraps that in waves: pilot first on representative workloads, cut over in scheduled windows, validate against checklists, keep rollback ready at every step. Most workloads see one short, planned window. The pilot tells us, and you, everything before production moves.
04 /Do all our nodes need the same subscription level?
Within one cluster, yes: every node carries the same level, priced per CPU socket. Separate clusters can run different tiers, which is exactly where right-sizing saves money: Premium where the business lives, Standard or Basic where it does not. We work that out in the consult.
05 /We already installed Proxmox VE ourselves. Can you support it?
Yes, and that is one of the most common ways engagements start. We run a deployment review first: quorum and fencing, storage layout, network isolation, backup restores proven under test. Then we harden what needs it and wrap it in the support or managed package that fits. No rip-and-replace, no judgment.
06 /What does fully managed or DR as a service include?
Fully managed means ModernOps runs your Proxmox VE estate end to end: monitoring, patching, capacity, incident response, backup, with an official Premium subscription included per socket. DR as a Service adds a replicated recovery site, scheduled restore tests, and documented runbooks. You see reports; you skip the pager.
07 /What happens when a problem is beyond first-line support?
It escalates on your official subscription straight to the Proxmox engineers, and ModernOps drives the ticket to closure. You never referee between vendors. That escalation path is the practical reason to buy subscriptions through the partner who also answers your phone.
08 /Will our Windows workloads run?
Fully supported. Windows Server and client guests run on Proxmox VE with VirtIO drivers for performance, and virtual TPM support covers the Windows 11 requirements, alongside Linux and other guest systems.
